Geocache Description:

Have you ever archived a cache that actually was still there? Well, aparently I have.  I was informed it was gone and just decided to pull the pin. When i hiked past today I stopped and looked, and there it was. So back into play it goes.

Here is some of the original description of the cache from back in the day (2008). Note you can drive right to the trailhead now. You might even find a cache waiting for you.

This cache is located on the Teodoro Trail.
Access is somewhat difficult, as the main access point has had a bridge removed. This is the easiest starting point to locate, but it is quite difficult to cross Weiner Creek at this location. There is a way to drive around, but this requires a 4 wheel drive and an extensive knowledge of local goat paths. I recommend consulting the "Alberni Valley Trail Guide". It gives a description of the trail and access points.
Also, many of my existing and future cache destinations are in this tome.

This trail may seem like an insane hodgepodge of roads and trails that were just thrown together in a hurry with no real good plan for a route. And it was.
For good reason.
The Teodoro trail is named after Teodoro Cabrera, a Mexican environmental activist who was jailed in 1999 for trying to stop logging in Mexico's old growth forests.
This trail was constructed in 2000/2001 in an attempt to block proposed logging of this area. It worked. An irony here is that much of the flagging tape that marks this bewildering route was pirated from the logging company that planned to log here.
