Here is a good cache for familes/kids. It is hidden on public land
and is accesible all year long, seven days a week. If you arrive
any day between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. you can drive very close to the
cache. Show up at any other time and you'll have about a mile walk
on a level, graded dirt road. The reason for this: There is a gate
on the road that leads to the cache which is locked from 5 p.m. to
8 a.m. Because of this, weekends may be the most convenient time to
hunt for this cache, unless you don't mind hoofing it. Another
option is to ride bikes, as many people do in this area. Either
way, this is an interesting place to visit, even in the wintertime.
Look for bald eagles in late winter/early spring, among other
waterfowl.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This is a waterfowl management area. Dogs are not allowed,
even on a leash.
Be sure to bring mosquito repellent during warm weather. Please
obey all posted signs. Certain areas of the WMA are off limits
(even to foot traffic) during nesting season. The area where the
cache is hidden is always accessible, as is the road leading to it.
One helpful hint: To help avoid unneccesary erosion, it is best to
approach this cache from below, rather than from above. Be sure to
replace cache carefully. Thanks!
