I have mentioned in the cache I put out a few years ago: Gorby Remembers Pinetree Motors GC693MY that I remembered my uncle and aunty John and Margaret Cross. My uncle had passed away many years before I placed a cache in their honour at the garage they used to own.
Well sad day my fellow caching frineds! My aunty passed away 3rd October 2020, also the day of my 60th birthday as it happened, she was 86. We drove down from Auckland to Whakatane for her funeral... mum, my sister and one of my brothers. A very sad day!
Today, as I was heading home after visiting a good mate in Palmerston North and catching up with caching events at Manawatu I thought I might visit aunty Margaret's shop she used to own, called Threads. She used to sell second hand clothing here and broadened out into hiring out fancy dress and she shifted the whole shebang into her home not far from here and did a thriving business until the day she moved to Whakatane to stay with her daughter for health reasons and eventually passed away there.
The shiny cache will be very easy to spot, no longer in or near the trees that have been removed, but is magnetic, bottom of stairs. Please make sure it is still hidden when you leave.
