We placed a wee cache out here in these wee wetlands.
This cache is along the path, in the Mill Creek Corporate Center Wetlands. This area was restored by the city as a mitigation project for lost wetlands habitat. The project makes the site more suitable to native species of plants and wildlife. Enjoy them as you meander down the path.
The second function of the restoration is the treatment of storm water runoff. The wetlands hold storm water, helping to avoid rapid flooding and runoff, and then they filter the water as it slowly returns to the watershed. The site has a completely different character when it is full of water, versus when it is relatively dry. It is neat to see the change.
Now, for the cache! The cache is in reach of the paved path; you do not need to trample on plants. Keep in mind that this is a wee (nano) container, so you need your own writing utensil. You may also want some tweezers if you are not the most dexterous. Please be careful not to drop the cache into the nearby drain! Rolling up the log, putting it into the cap, and then twisting the bottom back on is the best way to return it. Please seal it tight; we live in wonderfully wet Oregon!
