I,ve been longing to place a cache here at this historic building for a while and have finally gotten a chance.
When I first placed this here I did it to bring attention to the building...well the building was the only the tip of the iceberg. After about 7 months after being placed a news story came up saying a decomposed body had been found in the crawl space under the building, long story short this park use to be a cemetery for African-Americans with some saying the bodies are still there. Considering that the massively historic De Luna settlement is across the bayou from here I don't suspect the archaeologist from the local university will come digging anytime soon, even then the cache is in a place that shouldn't be disturbed by that. Update: the new Mayor of Pensacola has announced the formation of a committee to look at how to better commemorate the history of this park so the possibility of removing the cache site is possible, however, if there is to be any historic marker placed it will most likely be on the 17th Ave (road that goes under the Graffiti Bridge) side of the park.
It has been brought to my attention that there is a cache Guardian and since we don't know if its someones pet or not I say let it be (that doesn't mean we can't name s/he so in yalls logs put a good gender-nuetral cat name that I will decide on later)
