This is an ammo can geocache on the Elk River Trail. Come prepared to hike! It is hidden near 4 mile marker on this trail, which means you need to be prepared to hike at least 8 miles unless you are sleeping out here.
Come to the Elk River Trailhead near Elk City Lake. Hike to the 4 mile marker, where you will find a nice little rest area right off the trail. Further back I have hidden the ammo box at the base of a tree. As of this writing I camoed it pretty well, so please try to keep it well hidden. I hid it in mid fall, so the foliage was not bad. Can't speak to being there during the spring or summer. Always good advice to beware of bugs and poison ivy.
As of the placing of this cache, there is a log, a dollar coin for the first to find, a t- shirt, and some happy meal toys.
This cache is worth it just for the hike. I love this trail and I hope you do, too! Happy caching!
