Geocache Description:

#2 Wollombi to Millfield

ANZAC Reserve

Please do these caches in this series from Wollombi to Millfield. If you go from Millfield to Wollombi it can be dangerous with very little places for parking. This road is windy and can be busy of a weekend so please be careful.

Is a small park in Wollombi.

You will find an amazing sculpture here called Freedom Run by Andrew Whitehead. It is a sculpture of a horse but it is not any horse it is a Waler. They were originally stock horses for the Australian outback. They were amazing horses with great stamina and they could go for a long time without water and were very fast and strong.

Over 130 000 Walers from Australia went to WW1. 8 000 Walers came from New Zealand. The sad part, most did not survive the war. Only 1 returned to Australia and 1 went to New Zealand. This sculpture is a tribute to these horses.

This park is a nice place to sit and have morning tea or lunch and reflect on the many sacrifices our men and women and animals made for our freedom. Lest we forget.

Cache is a small film canister.
