Grace Goodhue was born in Burlington Vt in 1879. She died in 1957 and is buried not far from here in Plymouth VT. She was a UVM graduate and became the First Lady of Massachusetts, the Second Lady of the United States, and the First Lady of the United States due to her marriage to Calvin Coolidge. Among the causes she cared about were education for the deaf, the Red Cross, and Jewish refugees during WW2. Calvin Coolidge summed up his marriage to Grace in his autobiography: "For almost a quarter of a century she has borne with my infirmities, and I have rejoiced in her graces."
