Geocache Description:

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THIS SERIES, PLEASE CONTACT THE SERIES OWNER (SEE BELOW)

We are often told (correctly, if somewhat ideologically), that geocaches should take us to somewhere "interesting", and not simply be placed just for the sake of it. The aim of this series is to try and adhere to this ideal by basing caches around details given on an Interpretation Board about the area in which it is situated. By definition, it is hoped that this information will be "interesting", and will help the cacher discover things about the area that would often not be revealed by a traditional cache.

White Lion Square is, today, really nothing but an enormous roundabout.

It wasn't always like this, but it was always a busy location, where Market Street, South Street, Derby Road, Nottingham Road, Stanton Road and Park Road all met. Prior to the large roundabout, there were two smaller roundabouts, with buildings around the outside, including two public houses, one of which was, of course, called the White Lion.

At the given waypoint, you will find a rather old information panel, set up in conjunction with the Ilkeston and District Local History Society. Use the information there to answer these questions and so give you the coordinates of the nearby cache.

Hallcroft School was opened in 191A
The Toll House was built on South Street in 176B
Toll Bar House reached its final height in 193C

X is the number of letters in the surname of the designer of Gladstone School

The cache can be found at N 52 58.ABC W 001 18.XYZ
