Geocache Description:

Kirk Hallam is a large post-war residential area. But, hidden away off the main road from Spondon to Ilkeston is a remnant of the original hamlet of Kirk Hallam, the church of All Saints.

There has been a church on this site since the 12th century, and the font and two mouldings next to the south entrance are believed to date from the original Norman building. However, the current church dates from the 14th century (with many Victorian "improvements" of course). It is one of only ten Grade I listed buildings in the Erewash area. In 2006, while a grave was being prepared, part of an Anglo Saxon or Viking sword was found - this is now held by the Erewash Museum.

You will need to visit the church in order to find the cache, but before you do that you need to solve a Jigidi puzzle - just click on the photo below to get started.

Once you have completed the jigsaw, you should have two numbers, X and Y.

The final location can be worked out by visiting the exterior of the church to answer a couple of questions.

The northings are N 52 57.(X multiplied by the number of screws holding the grille over the tower window).

The westings are W 001 19.(Y multiplied by the number of exterior doorways into the church).

The cache itself is only a stone's throw away. It is a micro, so you will need to bring your own pen or pencil.
