This cache is hidden along the Buckeye Trail within Richfield Heritage Preserve. Park maps can be found online and in the parking lot area. The Buckeye Trail is clearly marked in yellow on the map.
Be aware that this park is not open 24 hours a day. There is a gate at the entrance off Broadview Rd. that operates on a timer. Make sure you exit the park before dusk. Obey all park rules and respect the history of this marvelous place.
The Buckeye Trail consists of 1,444 miles of continuous trails that form a loop through the state of Ohio. Parts of the Buckeye Trail follow the same route as other park trails in scenic places such as the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Hocking Hills State Park, Pike Lake State Park, and East Fork State Park. Trails are identified with blue blazes (blue rectangles) on trees or signposts along the loop. The portion of the Buckeye Trail that passes through Richfield Heritage Preserve (formerly the Girl Scout Camps Crowell & Hilaka) passes many interesting sights as it meanders through the park.
To find this geocache you will hike a portion of the Buckeye "Blue Blazes" Trail. How far you hike and how much of the Buckeye Trail you experience is up to you! If you enjoy your hike to this cache, you may want to seek out more sections of the Buckeye Trail that will take you to other beautiful places in the Buckeye State. Because so much of the trail passes through parks and forests with convenient parking it is easy to explore small portions of the trail in easy one or two-mile hikes.
Watch your step and stay on the trail until you reach the vicinity of the cache. The cache is to the west of the trail (downhill side). You are looking for a small plastic rectangular box. There is room for very small trade items. GPS readings bounce around a bit under the trees, use the hint if you need to.
