The Mysterious Orb is Woomera folklore of origin unknown. Legend has it that the orb landed soon after Blue Streak was launched.
Everything around the orb began to take an orb like shape, the chickens began laying egg shaped eggs. Australian footballs changed to soccer balls. Round Sputnik continued to go around the globe bleeping regularly. Sheep and cattle began to walk in circles. Emus stopped flying. Only kangaroos were unaffected, because they are just so much smarter than the rest of us.
The elders of the town were scared of the orb's mysterious power. The force from within the orb was too great. Was it a stray moon lander or a visitor from the stars. The orb remains where it was found. Woomera operated as a "closed town" between 1947 and 1982. Were the locals living with an alien presence. Was this Area 53?
The Mysterious Orb still remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of Woomera to this day, some believe it has a soft creamy centre. Or is it full of alien life forms observing your activities.
