Geocache Description:

Acknowledgement of Country: I would like to pay my respects to the First People: the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways of Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country. I would like to acknowledge that this geocache has been placed on what always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

This cache is not at the published coordinates, however GZ is nearby.

To find the coordinates for this bonus cache, you will first need to complete the adventure lab, 'Canberra Metro Stage One'; available on the 'Adventure Lab' smartphone app. The URL to the adventure lab and its QR code is: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/338d9736-3c0b-4c89-b6ee-e34b412e6ae1.The QR code is also attached in the image gallery of this listing.

The coordinates of all five lab caches in the adventure lab are positioned in the centre of five metro stops between Gungahlin and Civic along Canberra's new light rail network. Each lab has a geofence radius of 25m (ie. 50m diameter); covering the platform. The code word is the same for all five caches: 'Metro'. As you go, enjoy the Canberra scenery; or you may wish to read about/listen to (with earphones) a playlist of my favourite performances from Queen: Hungarian Rhapsody - Live in Budapest '86!

This adventure lab has been intentionally designed so that if you like, you can turn this into an armchair geocache! This means you can pay money to catch the metro, use the free Wi-Fi and claim all five caches without needing to leave your chair! The metro will make a complete stop at each cache: as long as you click "answer" whilst inside each 50m diameter geofence, you will have no problem copy/pasting the word 'Metro' and claiming each cache.

The metro ride from Gungahlin to Civic is only 24min (48min return); and there is also tonnes of free parking near the posted coordinates (such as that in the waypoints section) which geocachers may like to utilise whilst riding.

Disclaimer: please note that catching the metro is non-compulsory for this adventure lab. This means it is 100% possible to complete the entire adventure lab without needing to pay extra money and without needing to catch the metro. Nonetheless, armchair geocaching remains an option.

Once you have all information from the adventure lab, calculate GZ:

S35 11.(D-A)(D-C)(B-A)

E149 08.(E-A)(B-E)(A-C)

Please be cautious around GZ. Good luck!

10/08/2022 update: Originally, geocachers were required to visit two waypoints additional to the AL to collect numbers for the GZ coordinates. As of this date I have removed these requirements so all you need to do is complete the AL and you'll have all the numbers you need. I've updated the details in the AL journal so that all the only numbers you need are for letters A to E, rather than A to J.
