Kemp Howe Circle is a shadow of its former self. Only 6 Pink Granite stones remain. Before the railway cut through the site it is estimated that it was 24 metres wide.
It sits at the south end of the Shap alignment that includes the Goggleby Stone, Aspers Field Stone and Skellaw barrow. Others include the Thunder stone north of the Skellaw barrow. It is well worth taking a walk to view them and see the features in the context of the landscape. The following link might inspire you. http://www.stone-circles.org.uk/stone/shapstonerows.htm
The cache is sited near to the newly restored Milepost and can be done as a drive by. There is a pavement on the East side of the A6 if you wish to walk up from the village.
