今も活発な活動を続ける阿蘇山。
そのなかでも中岳第一火口は、世界で最も火山活動が活発な火口の一つです。普段は水蒸気の白い煙を上げているだけですが、度々噴火を伴う活発な活動が見られます。
Mt. Aso is still active now.
Among them, Mt.Nakadake first crater is one of the most active craters in the world. Normally, it only emits white smoke of water vapor, but it often shows active activities accompanied by eruptions.
火山活動が最も穏やかな湯だまりの状態でも、火口湖には約６０℃でｐHが1～0の強酸性のお湯をたたえ、火口からは毎日1,000トン程度の二酸化硫黄などの火山ガスを放出しています。そして、火山活動が活発になると次のような現象が発生します。
Even when the volcanic activity appears to be moderate, the crater lake contains about 60 degrees Celsius hot water with 1～0 pH(strong acidity) and emits about 1,000 tons/day of sulfur dioxide and other volcanic gases. And when volcanic activity becomes active, the following phenomena occur.
地下のマグマだまりから供給される火山ガスやマグマの量によって火口の様子は一変します。火山活動のプロセスは①「湯だまり」から始まり、さまざまな現象が発生して最後に⑦「水蒸気爆発」でクライマックスを迎えます。
The state of crater continues to change with a sequence of volcanic activities. The sequenece occurs in relation to the amount of volcanic gas or magma from deeper part.The cycle can go from ① bright green crater lake to next process, that various phenomena occur, and finally reaches "⑦ Phreatomagmatic explosion".

中岳火口周辺で採取された火成岩が建設資材として利用されています。観察地点1では待避所で利用されており下の写真の黄色い石もその一つです。この石はマグマが地表付近に噴出したときに，圧力の減少によりマグマに含まれていた水分などが揮発しながら固まりました。この石の表面はどのような特徴がありますか？
The igneous rocks collected around the Nakadake crater are used as construction materials. The yellow stone in the photo below is one of them for shelter. When magma erupted near the surface of the earth, water and other substances contained in the magma volatilized and hardened due to the decrease in pressure. What are the characteristics of the surface of this stone?

Observe the biggest volcanic block(weight is about 34 tons) on the north side at Observation Point 2.
Is it because of the Strombolian eruption that this block was blown so far? Or is it due to a Phreatomagmatic explosion?
