The park is open dawn to dusk. You can still access the sites even though the parking lot closes at 3pm for the Hatchery. This is a Bonus cache for my Nimbus Wildlife Adventure OR you can do this the hard way following the description. The American River Parkway and Nimbus Fish Hatchery offers lots of recreational opportunities and wildlife viewing. There are many excellent geocaching adventures to be found in this area. This cache is NOT at the listed coordinates, but can be found after a couple of interesting stops and some easy computations to get to the Final location and a short walk. The cache can be accessed by walking into the parkway and visiting the Nimbus Fish Hatchery and taking a stroll down river from the hatchery along the Jedidiah Smith Memorial Trail. You can see lots of wildlife in this area and the Chinook Salmon and Steelhead are spawning here from November to February.
