La Cรดte de granit rose (en breton Aod ar vein ruz, littรฉralement ยซย cรดte des pierres rougesย ยป) est une zone cรดtiรจre de la Manche situรฉe dans les Cรดtes-d'Armor dans le nord de la Bretagne, dans la rรฉgion historique du Trรฉgor prรจs de Lannion. C'est un choronymeย : elle tient son nom par le fait que le granite qui affleure possรจde une dominante brune tirant sur le rose. C'est une appellation touristique. Le granite de cette cรดte tient sa couleur unique de la combinaison de trois minรฉraux distincts prรฉsents dans le graniteย : le mica, qui lui donne sa couleur noire, le feldspath qui lui donne sa couleur rose, et le quartz avec sa teinte grise translucide caractรฉristique. Le feldspath est d'ordinaire blanc, si bien que les granites sont plutรดt gris vus de loin gรฉnรฉralement. Cette couleur rose est plus prรฉcisรฉment due soit ร la prรฉsence d'impuretรฉs d'hรฉmatite (oxyde de fer(III) de formule Fe2O3) dans le rรฉseau cristallin du feldspath alcalin (microcline, anorthose) qui apparaรฎt dans le rรฉservoir mantellique, soit ร un phรฉnomรจne d'automรฉtasomatisme, avec circulations de fluides riches en fer, en fin de cristallisation dans le rรฉservoir magmatique. La nuance de rose dรฉpend du degrรฉ d'oxydation du feldspath.

The Pink Granite Coast (in Breton Aod ar vein ruz, literally โred stone coastโ) is a coastal area of โโthe Channel located in Cรดtes-d'Armor in northern Brittany, in the historic region of Trรฉgor near from Lannion. It is a choronym: it takes its name from the fact that the granite which outcrops has a dominant brown tinge to pink. It is a tourist name. The granite of this coast derives its unique color from the combination of three distinct minerals present in granite: mica, which gives it its black color, feldspar which gives it its pink color, and quartz with its characteristic translucent gray tint. Feldspar is usually white, so granites are mostly gray when viewed from afar. This pink color is more precisely due either to the presence of impurities of hematite (iron (III) oxide of formula Fe2O3) in the crystal lattice of alkaline feldspar (microcline, anorthose) which appears in the mantle reservoir, or to a phenomenon of autometasomatism, with circulations of fluids rich in iron, at the end of crystallization in the magmatic reservoir.
