Geocache Description:

Veebruaris 2008 aastal suleti 23 000 rebasega farm. Asutamisaeg on 01.10.1959, seega tegutses ligi 50 aastat.

Miks farm suleti? Seetõttu, et töötati kahjumiga (8 miljonit!). Looma sööda hinnatõus on samuti süüdi farmi sulgemises.

Tegemist on 44-hektarilise territooriumiga.

***************************************************************************

In February 2008, a farm with 23,000 foxes was closed. It was a fur farm and in this time it was one of the largest fox farms in the world for fur production. The foundation date is October 1, 1959, so it operated for almost 50 years.

Why was the farm closed? Because they worked at a loss (8 million!). The rise in animal feed prices is also to blame for closing the farm. In addition, the fact that employees wanted a higher salary. There were a total of 42 employees.

The most compelling reason for closing the farm was that in 2009 the requirements of the European Union came into force on fur farms, which required at least 10 million Estonian Kroons to meet. However, since the company had nowhere to take such an amount and no financial institution wanted to invest in a company with so many enemies...

The failure is also due to the high mortality of fox puppies and devastating diseases in the herd.

The unpleasant aromas of the fox farm also began to disturb the residential area near the farm.

It is a 44-hectare territory. In one time there was planned to create plots for residential or office buildings there.

Some  facts:

  • It takes 8 fox skins to make one high-class coat.
  • The flesh of foxes that have become fur is first frozen and then minced.
  • The product is suitable for use as feed for other farm animals.

There are no more cages above the former fox farms, but it is also possible to walk there. There are also demolished buildings in the area. In summer, you can find blackberries and small rodents roaming around. The treasure was hidden near the fountain of a former seal.
