The posted coordinates will bring you near to a Parliamentary Boundary Post on the Kings Road. It is a cast-iron marker dated 1918, unaltered and in its original setting. It displays an ornamental capping and inscribed plaque. It marks the outer extent of the administrative jurisdiction of the former Belfast Corporation and of Mount Pottinger District Electoral Division. It is of historical significance as a remnant of the first election in Britain and Ireland when nearly everyone (except women under 30) had the right to vote. That was the election when Constance Markievicz became the first woman to be elected to the Westminster Parliament. She was MP for Dublin St Patrick's from 1918 - 1922.
The boundary post also marks a short-lived period in the province’s political development before the formation of Northern Ireland and the Stormont administration in 1922. It is relatively rare as many of these posts have succumbed to road widening and random removal. There are other boundary posts along the line of the Knock River and a George V post box nearby. At one time P's grandparents lived in 109 KIngs Road, which is the first house within the boundary.
