Geocache Description:

A regular-sized cache located in a large conservation area in Columbia.

As the title indicates, this cache is located in the Hinkson Woods Conservation Area. This area is a little unusual in that it is wholly within the city limits of Columbia, yet it is accessible only via a hike on the MKT Trail. The trail is a converted railbed from the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, and it runs from the edge of downtown Columbia to near the Missouri River, where it hooks up with the Katy Trail that runs across much of the state of Missouri. It's a very pleasant walk under the tree canopy and on bridges over the local creeks, and a popular place to bike/jog.

There are three access points you can use to get on the trail and to Hinkson Woods: off Forum Boulevard, off Scott Boulevard, and from the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. The cache is roughly the same distance from all three - the Twin Lakes access looks closer on the map, but the trail to the MKT is pretty circuitous and ends up being just about as long. There is a way to park closer to the cache in a residential area to the south, but this is NOT an official trail access point for the general public, and the streets there aren't really wide enough to handle parked cars. It seems to just be a little service path for the parks people to get vehicles to Hinkson Woods, so be a good doobie and choose one of the three places above to get on the trail instead...all you'd be doing is cheating yourself out of a nice hike and possibly ticking off the neighbors.

The cache is hidden a few hundred feet from the trail in Hinkson Woods in an area criscrossed with deer paths. In fact, I scared the daylights out of a deer while I was looking around for a place to hide it.

The cache contents include a disposable camera. Please use it to take a picture of yourself, and be sure to let me know if it's running out of film!

This is the first non-virtual cache I've hidden, so have fun!
