PEG 2020: This cache forms part of PEG 2020 (Port Elizabeth Game 2020). These are caches placed and published during the second and third weeks of December 2020. This cache is a re-imagination of Sacramento Curse which was originally placed by erenei and collected 51 finds over the 7 years it existed. Unfortunately it was muggled before I could find it, so I hope my placement strives to meet what he done here before. I've also shamelessly copied his cache description. I could hear the moans whilst I explored the area for the best placement so maybe there's some truth to the story. To reach the cache, please wear shoes with good grip since the rocks are slippery most of the time, especially when it's wetter than usual. Also please be careful with the container as it's one of a kind.
The Portuguese galleon Sacramento ran aground on 30 June 1647 between present day Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay. Of the original party of 72 that made it to the shore, only nine made it back to Delagoa Bay, Mozambique, 1 350 kilometre walk along the coast on 05 January 1648. There they were hoping to find a ship to transport them back to Portugal and only four of these men made the trip back home. Now you might have heard the story before but have you ever wondered what happened to those who did not make it?
It is said that their spirits can still be seen at night roaming on the beach trying to make their way home. At day, one can still feel their presence, so when looking for this cache keep your senses on high alert. It is said that if you see one of them, you will carry with you the curse of the Sacramento. The curse, also known as the curse of the last to find, will be theirs until someone else has taken their place! It is still unsure what the curse entails but like many other curses it seems to lure you in with some reward. The question is, will you fall for it?
