Thornapple I Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

-Rusty-: Greetings,

Time for this one to go, it has been in a sad state of repair for quite some time now.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Thank you,

Rusty...

Geocache Description:

This cache is near the kept trail in Charlton Park. The terrain is easy, but the hike is longer than any of the caches we've found.

This cache is hidden in a nature area used for hiking, horseback riding etc. near a historic village in a Barry County park near the Thornapple Lake and River. If you have time you can check out the historic village or do a bit of fishing on the river. If you are from out of town there is a nice camp ground just across the road. There is also a beach, but I think you have to pay by the car-load to park and use the beach. There is no fee to park and see the historic village or hike the trails.

This is kind of a theme cache. The container is a blue storage-type box about 2.5 gallon size. There are some rubber frogs & lizards, a frog keychain, a frog bookmark, other crawlies and things that are green (and one sm. bottle of perfume for the girls that geocache too).

There are several routes you can use to reach the cache. Most of the terrain is fairly easy. There are some hills and the cache is a good bit from the main parking area. If you get off the kept trail the woods get pretty gnarly. When you see the small primitive dwelling, you're close enough to stop using your GPS.
