This Adventure Lab has 5 Locations taking you on a walk (or drive) through the village of Storms River. Once you complete the final location, you will receive the coordinates for this bonus physical cache.
PLAATBOS NATURE RESERVE
The indigenous forest adjacent Storms River Village forms part of the Plaatbos Nature Reserve section of the Tsitsikamma National Park. This section of the forest offers easy access and beautiful walks in the indigenous forest. You can either follow the marked trails through the forest or walk along the historic Storms River Pass. Three routes have been laid out and have been colour-coded with yellow (8km); red (7,5km) and green (5km) footprints. On the yellow trail, one can enjoy a picnic and swim in the Storms River at the Old Bridge picnic site at the bottom of the pass. Best of all, there is no cost to access the forest.
In Plaatbos you will discover the secrets of the spectacular Tsitsikamma Indigenous forest and get taken back to a time where the forest was “home” to hunter-gatherers and their existence in the forests. Discover how the forest lives and breaths, hear the sounds of birds like the Knysna Loerie and Green Woophoes; and encounter Hard Pear trees, Giant Yellow Woods, and other interesting Forest Flora. Stand next to a giant Outeniqua Yellowwood and feel like a dwarf against this unique creation. You will also encounter beautiful Tree Ferns hundreds of years old. You will truly be amazed!!
