Cache is hidden along a disabled rail line. Make sure you pull well off the paved road when you park your vehicle and I would not recommend trying to drive on this trail with your vehicle as it doesn't have enough room for two vehicles to pass each other and there seems to be some metal fragments sticking up along the trail. It should be a nice easy hike through the forest common to the east side of Lake Winnipeg. Other than the first cache, all the caches are winter friendly. No FTF Certificate, please bring your own writing tool.
During the hunting season, Sept 1st - Nov 30th I would recommend that you wear bright colours or blaze orange, just in case there are big game or upland hunters around.
Pocket gophers are common and destructive rodents found throughout the agricultural zones of the prairies. An infestation of pocket gophers can be first recognized by fan shaped mounds of soil on the surface, pushed out as the gophers excavate their tunnels. These mounds are generally 30 cm high by 30 to 50 cm in diameter. I can remember being encouraged, along with my brothers, to trap these rodents and turn in their tails as proof that we had caught them. We were paid 15 cents a tail for a pocket gopher!!!
