I love going around the area and looking at the Pioneer Cemeteries. I was surprised to find my own surname in this cemetery.
The earliest graves in this cemetery seem to be from the 1880s and the latest graves found in the cemetery seem to be from before 1910. There are a few children in this cemetery and there are quite a few violent deaths. Many of the gravestones in the cemetery are broken or rotting away. I found a record of a project from a few years ago that remade the wooden markers. Now they are very hard to read. There are about 46 names listed in the interment records, some are listed multiple times. This would be a great place to hold a service project to get the old cemetery in good shape again.
The youngest Earp brother is actually buried here, as well as a couple of other law enforcement and adjudication professionals. The other side is also included with some bandits finding their way into the cemetery. For more information, please look at this website
The cache is not inside the cemetery, but if you have come this far, please take the time to look around, and if you live close enough and one has not been conducted recently, please bring a group together to help the place look good again.
