長さが12m弱で、縦2列に並べられた切石を石柱橋脚で支えているだけの橋です。比叡山の千日回峰行を終えた行者が、知恩院の傍らにある粟田口（あわたぐち）の尊勝院で、元三大師（がんざんだいし）に満行を報告するのですが、その際の入洛時に最初に渡る橋が、この一本橋でした。このことより、「行者橋」や「阿闍梨（あじゃり）橋」とも呼ばれます。幅60cmほどの細い橋ですが、ぜひ渡ってみてください。
