Geocache Description:

Nymet Tracey has existed since at least 1066 when the 'de Tracey' settled in the area following the Norman Conquest. The church dates from the 14th century and is Grade I listed. The nave and tower date from the 14th century with the north aisle dating from the 15th century. The church was refurbished in 1889 when the chancel was rebuilt. This church is very large considering the small population that surround it. Nymet Tracey was destroyed by fire in 1833 (and again in 1835) and many of the population relocated to Bow leaving Nymet Tracey as little more than a small collection of cottages.
