I spent years riding my horse on the NIMO easement - not technically allowed, but no one seemed to care. I went to countless AHET pre-planning meetings in 2006-2008 trying to persuade the organizing committee that equestrians, cyclists, walkers, runners, and geocachers could co-exist. As an avid cyclist, I love the new trail surface. As an occasional geocacher, I'm grateful that the Friends of the AHET are amenable to our hobby. But as I look at horses grazing on both sides of the road, I have a twinge of regret for my equestrian friends that have to find new ways to access the remaining horse-friendly trails in the area.
