Start your hike from the parking-lot at the coordinate N59 51.388 E010 26.178. The cache is located approx 800m from here, but if you choose to take the shortest way, you don’t need any extra gear, but you have to climb 160m up the mountain “Skaugumsåsen”. The cache is located a bit from the edge of the top, so if you decide to bring your children choose another route.
The above mentioned parking-lot is located close to the beautiful lake “Semsvannet”. The area around the lake is frequently used by local inhabitants as a recreation area. Close to the parking-lot is also the famous “Sem Gjestegård” (Build 1899, coordinate N59 51.350 E010 25.992) known of harbouring the government during their national budget conference last year (Sem-erklæringen 2001). Those that have seen the famous Norwegian movie “Elling” would recognize the entrance of this building. It was used in a scene in the beginning of the film, where “Elling” and “Kjell-Bjarne” leave the psychiatric clinic “Brøynes” for new challenges in Oslo.
If you arrive with a car, try to pass the coordinate N59 50.996 E010 26.523 on your way, here are the entrance to “Skaugum” where the Norwegian crown prince Haakon and princess Mette-Marit live. From the cache site you will have a beautiful view of the “Oslofjord”. You are also able to see the house where the crown prince and the princess live. The “Skaugumsåsen” is also known for its rich fauna and geological treasures. Lots of fissile have been found here, and there are very infrequently types of beetle, butterflies and birds living here.
