The cache is a double layer pill pot & is located at Leighbeer Tunnel, an old railway tunnel of the Plymouth to Launceston Branch of the Great Western Railway (opened 1883 - closed to passengers 1962) which is now the West Devon Way cycle path.
Leighbeer Tunnel, also referred to as Leebeer or Shaugh Tunnel is the only railway tunnel on this stretch of the path. Funded by Lord Morley & designed by Brunel it was completed in the 1850's & is 281m long. Bat friendly lighting was installed in 2000 & the tunnel was resurfaced in concrete.
An aqueduct crosses the line near the South tunnel portal. This carried a leat to the Wheal Lopes copper mine, 1km to the SW.
Parking is available for a few cars roadside at N50 26.618' W004 04.695' with a 0.95 mile walk to the cache crossing the Ham Green viaduct on route, or at N50 27.729' W004 04.419' for one car with a 0.2 mile walk to North end of the tunnel, or at N50 27.252 W004 04.532' which is Shaugh Halt platform & has space for 2 cars & is 0.20 miles to the cache.
