Geocache Description:

The Ball Band Biergarten overlooks beautiful Beutter Park and is on the site of the old Ball Band manufacturing complex.  The cache you seek is a camoed pill bottle. Be wary of sober muuggles.

On June 17, 2000, an estimated 6,000 people flocked to the streets of downtown Mishawaka to witness a spectacle: The controlled implosion of five large vacant brick buildings at the former Uniroyal factory site. The 8 a.m. blast involved 5,000 sticks of dynamite that had been strategically placed to cause the buildings to collapse inward.  The location had been the site of a woolen mill since about 1838. It later grew into the Ball Band company, producing rubber boots and other items in a 42-acre factory complex and employing about 10,000 workers during WW II. Ball Band later became Uniroyal, which closed its doors in 1997. When the blast came, it took about 30 seconds for the factory complex to tumble down. Dust and smoke from the implosion blotted out the sunny skies that day and caused spectators to cover their eyes and noses. The riverside factory site was cleared and today is the location of Beutter Park.
