Bold Venture
Bold Venture was an American Thoroughbred racehorse that won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in 1936. Without achieving a single stakes win, Bold Venture was entered into the Kentucky Derby held at 20-1 odds. As soon as the gates opened, the favorite, Brevity, was knocked to its knees as a big scrum of racing horses made the start of the race tough for all participants. Bold Venture managed to find running room and by the backstretch had taken the lead. Brevity recovered early on and broke free of the pack and came charging after Bold Venture. However, Bold Venture crossed the finish line first.
