Decided to place a cache in Rotary Bark Park, a 97 acre park near Gig Harbor. This site was originally owned by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. In 1994, the Pennisula School Districk purchased this property for a future school site. In 1995, Pierce County implemented a new land use strategy that shifted future populations away from this site to ther areas of the Gig Harbor Pennisula. Subsequently, in 2011, the Pennisula School District Board of Directors agreed to lease the site to the Pennisula Metropolitan Park District (PenMet Parks) to build the district's first off-leash dog park.
The dog park was named the Rotary Dog Park by the park district's board of commissioners in recognition of all that the Gig Harbor Rotary has done for the park district and our community. Contacted the PenMet Parks Department at 253-858-3400 for the approval of this cache.
I enjoy walking in this park and thought it could use a few caches.......please replace with surrounding natural items to help camo the container.
Coordinates to GZ can be a little jumpy; that's when your "geosenses" need to kick in!
Cache is cabled to a 6-inch in diameter moss covered tree.
If you park along the road, please pull all the way off the road and stay safe.
