This is our second series we have put together during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, it centres around the Martello Towers in which you pass by four, pass by the site of two others where there is no evidence they ever existed, and are within sight of another.
The series is 6km in length, consists of 16 caches including 4 multi’s and takes you on a circular route. The first half is on a pathway running alongside a roadway the second half is across a pebbled beach. There will be some private roads where parking is not allowed
Martello Towers are small forts that were first built at the beginning of the 19th Century along the coast to ward off an attack from Napoleon.
Martello towers are generally around 40 feet in height and have an unusual, rounded shape with thick walls of solid stonework. The round, curved appearance of them were implemented to enable the garrison of soldiers and officers that inhabited them to have complete 360 degree views.
Having done the circuit many times and we have doubts about the longevity of the series due to being in high muggle areas so discretion and stealth must be exercised at all times.
The cache is in the car park
