Geocache Description:

The Story

This short pass is located on the R62 just to the north-east of the popular town of Barrydale. It should not be confused with the Thomas Bain built Tradouw Pass to the south of Barrydale, nor with the Op de Tradouw Pass which lies to the west of the town. The well engineered pass, which has an average gradient of 1:19 and never gets steeper than 1:11, offers lovely views over the Barrydale valley and surrounding farms.

The Cache

This cache can only be found whilst travelling in the direction of Cape Town.

Route 62, the scenic alternative

Many consider Route 62 as the scenic alternative to the much busier N2 along the coast. Route 62 stretches for more than 500 kilometre from Ashton in the Western Cape to 18 kilometre short of Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape. This cache is part of the series placed on Route 62 to entice people to explore the alternative. So go out and find them all, including the lab cache.
