Geocache Description:

In September 2005 we first hid a cache here using the exact same camouflage.  Sadly, our first container wasn't water or cacher proof and it gavve us fits.  The next one also had issues and maybe even the next one, but we finally fixed is back in summer of 2016 when the cache was disbled.  Unfortunately though, we forgot about it and then didn't see the messages from the reviewer and this, one of our favorite caches, got archived.  The container sat in our box of supplies and sat and sat until today when I put it back in the exact same place!!

I have used Rite in the Rain paper and we are pretty sure the issues we had in the past will be no more.

Here is the text:

The Memorial Garden is behind the USC Township Building which is located just off of route 19. This cache is a micro. Please be sure to put it back properly.

On September 8, 1994, ten members of the Upper St. Clair Community perished on Flight 427 when it crashed in Hopewell Township near Pittsburgh International Airport. In friendship and support for the families and friends in our community, the Township of Upper St. Clair constructed a permanent memorial garden with the hope that a lasting memorial will comfort the families and honor the deceased.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the garden was held on November 9, 1994. The garden was designed to be a peaceful area along McLaughlin Run Creek, near the Township Municipal Building. The memorial garden includes benches, shade trees, perennial beds, Nordic holly, rhododendrons and a walkway. Please respect the environment.

You will not have to leave the concrete pathway to find this cache. The cache contains only a log sheet as there is no room for anything else. Please bring a writing utensil to sign the log and then gingerly replace the container where you found it. The cache has been labeled handicapped accessible, however the container may not be retrievable without assistance.

Thanks and good luck hunting!

Note: As always, sign the logsheet for a smilie! Also, please do not post spoilers in your online log.

To those that had found the original, hope finding this one brings a happy memory.  During my recent research I have learned more about the people memorialized here.  Robert was a twin and Brian, the oldest child of Earl and Kathleen, was the youngest person in the area to ever be awarded an eagle scout award at the time.  The day he died was actually the first day of his Junior year at Upper St. Clair High School just across the street from here.

Please respect the area and give them all a thought.  Thank you and happy caching.

Congrats on the FTF Moondog23p!  Glad for the reversal of roles.
