The renovated Hayden Bridge, a 137-year-old iron rail bridge that was abandoned three decades ago opened in 2019 to pedestrian use. The bridge, among the oldest in Oregon, runs parallel to a vehicle bridge that takes Marcola Road motorists over the McKenzie River.span was fabricated in Pennsylvania and installed in Corrine, Utah, in 1882 as a trestle bridge for a railroad. It was moved to Springfield in 1901, after the Booth Kelly Lumber Company purchased it, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation’s historic resources program. The span was likely used to bring lumber to a Springfield mill from the Marcola hills to the northeast.
Becareful with pets and kids here. It is a long way down to a cold cold river!
Where's that cache? Pay attention to terrain. No need to go off the bridge for this cache. Cache is larger sized small container.
