A KWANZAA ADVENTURE
This wherigo Kwanzaa adventure will have you helping out Kofi who lost his Kwanzaa candles while walking along the trails at Lake Sammamish State Park. Are you willing to help Kofi out?
The cache IS NOT at the listed coordinates. This is a Wherigo cache. The listed coordinates are for the start of the Wherigo cartridge. There is plenty of parking near the boat launch where the listed coordinates are. Since the cache is placed within the borders of a Washington State Park, you will need a Discovery Pass OR purchase a day pass at the boat launch to find this cache. If you are not familiar with Wherigo caches, please read about Wherigo caches in the green text below about what you need to do before you can find this cache.
This adventure starts at the beginning of the Boat Launch Trail on the north end of the state park. You will be walking south along some hard packed gravel trails at times and very slippery and muddy trails at other times. IF you try to do this wherigo during the wet season (any time other than late June through early September), please plan on wearing boots or good hiking shoes and seriously consider bringing a trek pole or a walking stick. A good portion of your walk will be on slippery, muddy trails. Do not attempt wearing your favorite jogging/running shoes during the wet months. Also be aware that if there has been a period of several days of rain, there's a good chance that parts of the trails will be flooded. Yet another reason for boots. Round trip from the parking at the Boat launch area to the cache and back is almost a mile. Plan accordingly. I have set the difficulty and terrain rating for the trail conditions that you will most likely run into. Obviously, the trail conditions will fluctuate by the season. That said, with this being in the northwest, there's an excellent chance that the trail will be wet and muddy vs. a dry and easily trail to navigate that you will see in the summer months.
As with all Wherigo caches, you must first have a Wherigo app loaded on your phone before you can attempt to find this cache. You will also need to download the Wherigo cartridge associated with this cache before you can find this cache. You can find the Wherigo cartridge download page HERE. With the warnings and Wherigo procedures out of the way, do enjoy this quieter section of Lake Sammamish State Park. The walk will be peaceful and you will not see many people in this part of the park. It should be a lovely walk.
