Joseph D. Grant County Park has amazing views and terrain ranging from gentle rolling hills to tough climbs. This cache is hidden along the Hotel Trail -- one of the easier trails on the south side of the park -- barely a mile from parking. If you continue on the Hotel Trail after finding this cache, there are many nice loop trails to choose from with gorgeous views of the valley. This beautiful golden oak caught my eye as I passed. The tree has seen better days -- half is dead and lying on the ground -- but what remains is magnificent! Of course it won't be golden all year long, but if you go in the fall or winter, you can't help but spot the only golden tree in the area. You're looking for a simple camo'd plastic jar in what should be the obvious place.
The most direct route to the cache is the Hotel trail from the parking lot, but there are many nice loop trails that also get you here. Joseph D. Grant hours are 8:00am to sunset. Parking is limited outside of the parking lots, so you'll have to show a county parks pass or pay the fee. Happy hunting!
