Geocache Description:

This geocache location overlooks "the Race," which is a strait that runs between Alderney and Cap de la Hague, a cape at the northwestern tip of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy.  The Race is eight nautical miles across and located roughly between Alderney and La Hague, France.

A strong current runs through the race north of the Passage de la Déroute, which can run at 12 knots. If the wind and current run against each other, over the uneven surface of the narrow passage; waves can reach up to 4 metres.

The location is approached from a beautiful path that tracks around the headlands from Longis all the way to the Corbelets. The common is home to a stunning variety of dragonflies, butterflies and other insects and plants; and marine birds such as oyster catchers and curlews. If you are lucky, you may spot a seal!

The geocache is a small clipbox container, with a logbook, pencil and a couple of swappables. Take care during wet weather as the rocky path may be slippery, and avoid a very high tide. There is a small drop onto the shingle beach - so keep small chicldren close to you.

Please wedge back into position, as found.
