The Geocache will show you the world of the Icelandic sculptor Einar Jonsson. In the center of Reykjavik, next to the Hallgrimskirkja Church, stands the Einar Jonsson Museum building. In the back there is a garden with many of the artist's sculptures among the trees.
Einar Jonsson was born in 1874 on a farm in Galtafell. He began his studies in Reykjavik, but quickly moved to Copenhagen to study sculpture (it was imposible in those times on Iceland, because sculpture did not yet exist on island). He received a scholarship from the Icelandic government after he submitted his sculpture to the application. In 1901, he exhibited the sculpture Outlaws, which gave rise to contemporary Icelandic sculpture. After graduation, however, he did not return to his home island, he lived in various parts of the world. His sculptures in Iceland were not very known. It was until 1923 that Einar Jonsson moved into a villa in Reykjavik, which became his home, studio and museum at the same time. He received it as a gift from Iceland in exchange for donating his sculptures. The Jonsson Museum was also the first and the only art museum in Iceland. The sculpture garden at the museum was officially opened on June 8, 1984. It was designed by landscape architects Reynir Vilhjalmsson and Ragnhildur Skarphedinsdottir, and the painter Steinþór Sigurðsson chose the sculptures. There are 26 copper sculptures in the garden. Works: Alda aldann and Bæn hafði stood in the garden before work began in the park. Some of the casts were made while Einar Jonsson was still alive and were only taken from the museum to new places. Another was done later.

The garden is open all year round 24/7 and the entrance is free.
