Most of the pedestrian bridges along the Guangzhou BRT corridor were torn down at the time of the BRT construction, with just two retained: one at Huajing Xincheng and this one at Shidajida. This bridge, with its long ramps at an easily walkable gradient (though no shade unfortunately), was able to be retained as it was outside the BRT station area. Even with a metro station now under construction, the bridge has somehow still escaped demolition.
The bridge helps connect the two large university campuses to the north and south, and provides some good views of the BRT corridor. To the west is one of two 500m flyover sections in the 23km BRT corridor in which the BRT shares the two lanes with mixed traffic.
