This series of 10 caches has been set up around an area local to where I live. The route if completed as a whole takes you on muddy footpaths, along residential roads and into a few small copses which I did not know existed until recently. The whole route in numerical order is around 5km.
At the time of setting the caches, the 10 caches in this loop all have different cache containers. The loop can be completed in smaller sections or a few work well as “dash and cache”s.
The site which forms the centre of the main route is currently the Blue Mountain development. In 1992 Blue Mountain Golf Centre was founded and a challenging 18-hole parkland golf course existed on this site from 1993-2016. There were many water hazards on the course which measured over 6000 yards and was a par 70 course. The course was closed for the development of houses and schools in 2016. There are many opportunities to visit the site of the old golf course on the route around this set of geocaches and you can still pick out, the tees, greens and fairways in some part of the course. The area will develop over time but at the time of setting the caches in December 2020, Kings Academy, Binfield has been open for Secondary pupils since September 2018 and for Primary pupils since September 2019. There are a number of housing developments in progress and some of the properties on the old golf course site are already being lived in.
The location of the caches have been chosen to create a loop walk but also to consider some of this on-going development in the area, the hope will be that the locations don’t need to be amended over time.
Cache # 10
This cache container is handmade and will not be instantly obvious to the finder, hence the higher difficulty rating in comparison to others in this series. Please take care of it as it was gifted to me as a present and I would like it to last. The container is in two sections, the “top” section slides on and off the “bottom” section. Please don’t force it, or try and twist it or rotate it. Please take care to replace it as you found it. The log sheet is likely to need tweezers to remove.
