Geocache Description:

We always thought that this was a peculiarly named road!  Once Frozen came out, it was a favorite with the kids!

This is my first cache: 1JAN21

Olaf Johnson was an interesting local figure:

Olof Johnson of Northville given patent on invention of auto transmission hoist

May 13, 1931

The Leader-Herald

NORTHVILLE, May 12 -- (Special to the Herald) -- Olof Johnson, local manufacturer of silk machinery, yesterday was granted a patent on his invention of a new automobile transmission hoist by the Federal Patent Office in Washington, D. C.

Johnson had to wait more than three years for the government to act on his application which was "filed' April 9, 1928.

Mr. Johnson stated last night that he will put the new apparatus on the market and that the hoist will be manufactured in his South Main Street machine plant in this village. He also said that he perfected the hoist for use in garages and machine shops.

The invention is described by the government examiner and classifier in the following language:

"A hoist for automobile transmissions and other objects, including a supporting standard and arm, a pulley structure carried by the standard, a pulley structure adapted to be connected with the transmission to be lifted; a cable extending through all of the pulley structure and connected at one end with the arm, whereby when the cable is pulled in one direction said transmission will be raised.

"The pulley structure carried by the arm has a solid frame with a passageway above the cable extending clear through, a wedge placed in the passageway, and means connecting the wedge to the frame of the pulley structure so that the small end of the wedge extends into same direction as the free end of the arm, so that when the load of the transmission is applied to the second pulley structure, movement of the cable will cause the wedge to squeeze the cable to prevent an appreciable movement."

I am not positive if the cache is on town land or private, but I do have permission from the owners to place the cache.
