Meet Galveston

The cache is in a clearing where the trail curves. This provides different opportunities to leave the trail for the clearing, many of which are bramble free. Coming from Christi, go around the curve to the left to access with fewer brambles. If coming from Odessa, leave the trail before the trail curves to the right. When the trees are bare, you can often see some horses in the field off to the leftish and you can see parts of the river. This is my favorite stop on the 5K.
After 5 long years without a pup in the house, the family was ready to welcome a pup into the family. After applying to a few rescues we got a call there was a litter of six puppies on the way to Maryland! We were given the chance to meet all 6! After meeting them, we chose our pup but Dallas wanted to recognize each of his siblings.
All the puppies had Texas names - Galveston became known as DALLAS. Galveston was fostered with Christi, was the largest puppy in the litter and the only boy. Galveston was the friendliest of the puppies in that he wanted to be on us and kiss us constantly. Christi and Galveston became our loves! We still needed to see the last of the Texas 6 though.....It was a tough choice for us between Christi and Galveston!
This trail will take you through a cornfield, along the back of my neighborhood, onto the red dot trail which turns into the white trail, to the red trail and back to parking. This is Dallas's most favorite place to walk/hike. He is so excited when we visit here! Alltrails lists the Sweet Air Loop as 3.1 miles, so it became a 5K trail dedicated to Dallas and his littermates.
Along the trail, don't forget to pick up these caches in addition to the 5K:
