Geocache Description:

The black Panther is a mysterious and legendary creature. Panthers are rare, because they are actually leopards or Jaguars with two recessive genes for a black coat from both mother and father. North American panthers are Jaguars; a very strong and equally agressive cat. The last North American Jaguars were gone about 60 years ago but the have been reappearing in the southwest.

In addition the the comic book character there's a popular panther tale (or tail) in chapter 2 of Laura Ingall's wilder's book "little house in the big woods" about Laura's grandpa being attacked by a panther that dropped out of a tree and sunk it's claws into his horses hide.

No wonder it's the local school mascott. Anderson valley people are very strong, a little mysterious, and there are plenty of local legends to be told.

This cache is hidden at the base of a tree that looks like it may have been a good panther hangout. Container is a camouflaged peanut butter jar.
