The village of Marmorek is a neighborhood in REHOVOT that is mostly populated by immigrants from Yemen. The neighborhood was established in 1929 as the first workers' settlement of Yemeni immigrants in Israel.
In 1926, an area of 1100 dunams of Zarnoga land was purchased by the JNF with the donation of Dr. Alexander Marmorek, after whom the neighborhood was named.
The settlement was established by Yemeni immigrants from the Sharab district who initially lived in the Sea of Galilee but were expelled from it and settled in the village of Marmorek, and were joined by residents from the nearby Sha'arim neighborhood. After the settlement of the families from Sha'arim and the Sea of Galilee, in 1931 there were ten families from the Sea of Galilee and about 35 families from Sha'arim.
כְּפַר מַרְמוֹרֶק היא שכונה ברחובות שמאוכלסת ברובה על ידי עולים מתימן. השכונה הוקמה בשנת 1929 כמושב העובדים הראשון של עולי תימן בישראל.
בשנת 1926 נרכש שטח של 1100 דונם מאדמת זרנוגה על ידי קק"ל בעזרת תרומה של ד"ר אלכסנדר מרמורק שעל שמו נקראה השכונה.
היישוב הוקם על ידי עולים מתימן ממחוז שרעב שחיו תחילה בכנרת אך גורשו ממנה והתיישבו בכפר מרמורק, ואליהם הצטרפו תושבים משכונת שעריים הקרובה. לאחר התיישבות המשפחות משעריים ומכנרת היו בשנת 1931 במקום עשר משפחות מכנרת וכ־35 משפחות משעריים.
