Welcome to Poquoson and the Messick Point Cache Series!
Messick Point is a well-kept secret in the Poquoson community. For the commercial fishermen, it provides safe harbor for their work boats and easy access to their fishing areas. You might also find pet owners walking their dog(s) and enjoying the fresh air, peace and wide-open space of this area. There is plenty of parking close by and while here, check out the Watermen Monument nearby.
At this cache location you’ll find a derelict fishing boat that has certainly seen better days. It is an example of the shallow draft boats used to harvest the local oyster beds. If you found the boat, then you’re only feet away from the cache!
Be ever careful of potential muggles – stealth is essential! Take a walk, enjoy the view and have fun with this and other caches in the Poquoson community.
