Geocache Description:

The Grand Hotel was originally located in Taiwan’s Shrine during the Japanese Occupation Period. After the National Government of the Republic of China regained Taiwan in World War II, Taiwan had no luxurious national welcoming facilities to receive foreign guests, so the Taiwan Shrine was demolished and changed to the original location. Taiwan Grand Hotel; In 1952, the "Taiwan Dun Mu Association" (hereinafter referred to as "Dun Mu Association"; formerly known as "Taiwan Dun Mu Association") led by Jiang Song Meiling and other politicians took over the operation and changed It is the current name of the Grand Hotel, with Kong Lingwei as the first general manager. The original purpose was to entertain visitors from foreign heads of state or government and Jiang Zhongzheng and Jiang Song Meiling. At that time, the building scale of the Grand Hotel was very small. It was only in 1963 that the hotel's infrastructure was completed. In 1967, the Grand Hotel was named one of the top ten hotels in the world by Fortune Magazine [2]. On October 10, 1973, a new 14-story Chinese palace-style building designed by architect Yang Zhuocheng was completed, and the Grand Hotel became a new landmark in Taipei at that time.
