We were inspired by the PUB Hopping Series created by Inmountains.
Here in Orange County, we have many caches where those big green transformer boxes are called "Boogers". Cute but also kind of gross. Inmountains educated us on another term we like better - Public Utility Boxes - PUB.
This series has a -S for State College because all of the caches are near or follow State College. Start at PUB-S1 and head North. They'll all be on the East (right) side of the street. Interesting note...many PUBs now seem to be made out of a new material that has less iron because we found so many PUBs that would not hold our magnitized plates. So as you are driving along and wondering why this PUB isn't in the series, or that one, it is because we tried and that PUB wouldn't hold the cache. In fact we had more fails than successes. Hence why there is only 3 in this series.
This series is a nice break when you have been frustrated by those clever caches that are so hard to find. We can only do so many of those until we ask our selves,"Can we just have a simple one for a change?" They are all on the same side of State College - so no worries about crossing the major street - or doing one side and coming back.
No Nanos (hate them!). No Bushwacking (double hate them!!) Some are near busy businesses so just be careful of muggles.
All are small, magnetic. Find one, and you know what you are looking for at the rest of the series. Some are in plain sight others are under so you might feel for them. If you've never found this kind of cache, the first one may be a challenge, but after that it should be easy.
